Brief
The brief for this Poster design project was to create a fun and engaging poster to attact students to the freshers events planned for the next weeks. I was to use the colours and logo of the HdM Student’s Union Verfasste Studierendenschaft, short VS) as well as their speech bubble design elements. I also had to integrate their special freshers website and a QR code into the design with a call to action.

My Solution
This was quite a fun – no pressure graphic design project with a lot of potential So i tried to use a few design tricks to make the posters engaging fun and most important of all: effective.
For starters I used the speech bubbles as a backdrop to give the viewers an indication of important elements as well as a visual queue to each of the events, I then made the event headings as big as possible and through use of colour and proximity (a very tight line height) ensured it would remain readable and interesting. For the event headings I used the complementary colours from the CI arsenal to really make them pop against the background,
As the events weren’t finalised yet other than the date I then dropped that information 4x smaller below the headings. The call to action and the QR code also got a special treatment to make them different and thus draw attention,
